My fic idea keeps growing and growing and getting iddier and iddier. This is gonna be way over 5k.

I have 3 ideas I would really, really like to write, but I can't decide which one to focus on first. Two of them I already have a few pages written for, the other none so far, but I want to give all of them a chance.

I have zero energy right now and a lot of vague plotless ideas, so I'm just going to enumerate, I think?

1. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Edward Spellman/Zelda Spellman/Faustus Blackwood, backstory, because I will sell one other human being on this clusterfuck before I die so help me God. This has erotics (boy, does it), but no actual throughline and no conclusions about whether there should be an actual threesome at any point.

2. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Faustus Blackwood/Agatha Night, post-S3, oh fuck this is so wrong, it's maybe one of the wrongest ideas I've ever had, but canon gave me self-contained time bubbles and then it gave me axe-crazy Lovecraftian daddy vibes. Playlist, no plot.

3. Succession, Shiv Roy/Kendall Roy, near-canon AU where everything is almost exactly the same except they fucked nonstop for an entire summer in the early 00s when she was sixteen and he was twenty-two. Has a playlist and arguably a throughline, the voice is a trial. I'm also a little bit afraid it's a novel.

4. Shirley (film 2020), Shirley Jackson/Rose Nemser, oh this is such a no-brainer and I could probably hit 5 absolutely plotless K in my sleep, but the quasi-RPF angle involving a writer who's personally important to me in weird ways is specifically odd.

5. ... my head has been eaten by Schitt's Creek Johnny/Moira backstory thoughts and I don't even think that counts as idfic, except exposing fandom to (my best approximation of) late 70s/early 80s social mores feels EXTREMELY taboo. And people taking care of Moira Rose is weirdly important to me. And 20something Catherine O'Hara was a snack (she's better now, but also competing in a different class). Okay, so one of these ids isn't like the others, but it might still count.
(5a. I have 0 actual IDEAS about Moira/Jocelyn but it's suddenly not a concept I can easily shake.)

And let's be real, there are at least as many more things on the longlist, but I'm tired.

... Side note, you know what's fun, getting-started-writing-wise?

when both of your hypothetical POV characters are chronically dishonest, and the one whose thought patterns you can sort of predict more often is also the one you're straightforwardly terrified of writing.

That's fun.

(Iiiiii think my approach to the Real Historical Person side of things is looking like: confirm dates/locations/major events against a biography where strictly necessary, and then I can go from the film or lift details from anything she wrote herself.

I don't know why this seems more respectful, but... maybe I just feel obscurely that it's the more likely way I'll ever approach the level of chemically pure air-cooled Marquise-de-Merteuil-grade vitriol that comes through in the Miss Vermont bit from Raising Demons once you KNOW about Stanley. Whoo-ee.)

There's this scene I've had in my head for about six months now that involves an inversion of omegaverse marking/mating tropes that I'm extremely excited to write!

☆ What's the scene you're most looking forward to working on?

I've finally reached the first kiss scene between my characters. >3< It took about 25k to get there, lol. I'm looking forward to that scene, plus the cute intimate moments that come after. Also the fucked-up torture parts near the end of the story. I've only written one scene like that before, so I'm interested to see how I handle this one (which is far more intense in my head).

I should really remember next year that whatever idea I start the Bang with probably won't be the one I finish it with. (This is the second time now. ^^;) Basically the first idea became less "iddy" and more "a rigorous challenge that will need several months to finish". So still fun, but not in the "hitting my id" kind of way.

The good news: I have more iddy ideas! Too many, in fact. Hopefully I can mash them all together...

Oh lordy, yes, to the first question. I’m so far out of my comfort zone it’s bordering on exposure therapy. I’m straight up writing an apology happy fic for this pair because of my id. *gross sobbing*

I'm soooorta going out of my comfort zone wrt length, as this is the first might-be-30k+ story I've committed to writing since I realized I don't like writing stuff that long as much as I thought :x. I'm still really excited though, because the story is extremely my id, and I recently managed to work out an annoying tense problem I was having with the first few scenes.

Re who gets what they want and who's left wanting, I'll just focus on my main character, an OFC. One of the main themes of the fic is how she trades freedom of movement/action for increased safety and isn't always happy with the results, especially as concerns her relationship with a canon character. I'm that person that will read countless takes on OC in the Narutoverse, so I'm having fun fooling around with my take on that aspect of things :D

Soon, I hoped. Because that's when she showed up.
My dead aunt. Or, rather, her ghost.
The first inkling I always had of a visitation was the foul smell of her cigarettes. They'd killed her, but she still kept on smoking them.
Then her rasping breath just behind my left ear as she read over my shoulder.
"Cat-boy sex this time, child? I like it. Be sure to lovingly describe the barbs on his whatsit."
She annoyed the heck out of me.
But one thing was for sure. As long as I stayed up past three a.m., I would never lack for ideas.
