What is Iddy Iddy Bang Bang?
A panfandom mini-bang for >5k idfics.
Has your Captain Kirk/OC tribble-milking extravaganza never seen the light of day, but now you'd like it to? Do you not care who takes how many of what where? Then you're in the right place!
What is the length requirement?
Stories must have a minimum of 5,000 words. There is no upper limit.
What kinds of fanwork are eligible?
For 2021 we will be accepting stories, art (including comics), fanmixes, and podfic. If you want to make fanwork for any other medium, let us know and we’ll be happy to add it!
What is idfic?
Fic that tickles your id! Maybe it's the fic you make up before you fall asleep. Generally speaking, idfic is that sweet spot where the answer to the question "Is this too filthy/sappy/unbelievable/just plain wrong?" is a resounding "No!”
We are not defining what content qualifies as idfic. Your story doesn't have to be porny, though it may be.
Can I participate if I don't have a Dreamwidth account?
Yes! You can sign-up with an email, though you will need a Dreamwidth account to post your work to the community. You can sign-up for Dreamwidth here. If you have LJ you can use Open ID.
If you don’t want to make a Dreamwidth account:
You can send us your work to be posted for you. Otherwise, you can post directly to the platform of your choice (remember to tell us where) and we will link your work.
Is RPF allowed?
Yes!
Can I use a WIP?
You can, as long as it hasn’t been posted previously. We're tickled to be incentive for you to dust off your best OH JOHN RINGO NO drawerfics and finish them.
Can I write more than one story?
Yes! Just indicate in your sign-up that you're writing more than one story.
Do I need a beta?
No, though you may request one or offer to beta at our beta post [link forthcoming later during the bang].
I'm still not sure what an idfic is!
For further reading on what constitutes an idfic, please see:
• Fanlore's entry on idfic
•
fail_fandomanon: "At what point, in meme's opinion, does something become idfic?"

What can I write that's iddy and not porn?
A nonnie had some great ideas for non-porny idfic here!
Can I use my IIBB fic as a fill for another challenge?
Sure! You're welcome to use your fic for both. We ask that you please check with the other challenge that it is fine to use the fic for IIBB. Also, please refrain from posting the fic publicly before your scheduled IIBB posting date.
How will completed works be submitted, and where?
The posting period will be September 12-19, on Dreamwidth. Your posting date will be sent to the e-mail you signed up with. The schedule will also be available on the DW community.
On your posting date, please make a post containing your completed story, or a link to it. It's OK to put the full text of the fic elsewhere (i.e. AO3, a personal journal or Tumblr) as long as it can be reached from your DW post.
Alternately, you can send us your work to be posted for you, or post directly to the platform of your choice (remember to tell us where), and we will link your work.
You may also add your fic to the IIBB 2021 AO3 collection! (fully optional)
I want the mods to post for me! How do I submit my work?
Sure! Email us at iddybang@gmail.com prior to your posting date with your fanwork either attached or in the email body, and we’ll put it up for you. (Feel free to include any necessary HTML markup!)
Why do I need to check in?
So we know you're still with us! Towards the end of the bang, it helps us get an accurate head count for posting dates.
We don't need to see your work, or a word count if you’re not comfortable sharing those, but do come and say hi.
What if I miss a check-in?
We understand that things happen. If you know that you're unable to make a check-in beforehand, contact us and we’ll consider you checked in! Similarly, if you miss a check-in and still want to write, please contact us.
If you miss both check-ins and we can’t reach you, you will be considered as having dropped out.
What if I can’t complete my story on time?
You are likely to be eaten by a grue. Let's discuss an extension!
I need to drop out!
OK! The drop date is September 8. Please don't be shy about coming to us if you need to drop out!
If you vanish at the last minute without a word, we will have to ask you to sit out the next round. So please get in touch with us, even if some time has passed!
I dropped out after the drop date! Can I still write next round?
In 99.99999% of cases, yes!
Will there be prompts?
Yes! There is an optional prompt pool for you to play in should you be stuck for ideas -- or if you have prompts you’re not using, or would like to see written. You may post as many prompts as you like, but please note that they become claimable once posted to the pool.
Prompt claims should be noted in your author signup.
If at any time you would like to withdraw your claim, please contact us.
How does the claiming process work?
Comment on the prompt pool post – either to the post itself, or to the comment containing the prompt – and we will reclassify it in the post as claimed.
My question isn’t answered here. How can I contact the mods?
Use the page-a-mod post or email us at iddybang@gmail.com. For the latter option, please make sure we're on your spam whitelist so you'll get your reply!
What's new this round?" There are no changes for IIBB 2021! We are id-entical to last round.
