I got so excited when I saw this pop up because it's like yess, a framework to explore exactly what you want to explore!

It's my first time joining this bang, too. I was drawn to it as soon as I saw the announcement post, because I have a drawerfic WIP that I've been on the fence about posting, and this seems like a golden opportunity to let it see the light of day.

But I'm finding myself getting more critical about my story in the process of transcribing it into an actual typed draft. For one thing, I have to put the scenes into some kind of concrete order, which I hadn't worked out in detail before. And I'm worrying more about whether the scenes fit with the canon timeline, too. And maybe the fic needs a better ending than the one I have? - If anyone else is starting with a WIP, do you feel like moving into fic challenge mode is changing how you think about it?

Oh gosh, same! I actually scrapped my original iddy idea once I started working on it for this challenge. But on the bright side, I was able to mold it into something much more fitting but still iddy in the ways I wanted it to be! This means a good deal of reworking and figuring out how to recontexualize the scenes I've already written, but it feels much more manageable.

I definitely think there's a shift in how we view a story once we put it on paper. It's all well and good when it's up there in your head, and you have all the context you need to enjoy the idea, but transcribing that in a way that makes sense and sounds good is often paralyzing.

Hopefully being more critical of your story is helpful rather than hindering your progress!

Fanvids are great! I don't make many because I'm slow, but this should be fun. I'm on a costume drama kick at the moment, so fandom for happiness is BBC Musketeers and fandom for sadness is I Medici/ Medici: The Magnificent.

Uhhh so I did my original MCU IIBB fic for Camp Nano and now my first draft is done?? I'm to the point where I've reread it so many times I can't edit it properly, so it's just gonna have to sit until I can actually read the words again.

So... I'm writing a second IIBB! Hannibal TV this time. Way less fluffy than the last one.

This is my first time too, and so far I'm really excited about my idea! Lots of whump and hurt/no comfort, and I've got a bingo card I can pull tropes from if I get really stuck. I'm also outlining an origfic idea that I may use for NaNo if I still really feel it come November, so that's something else to look forward to.

Anyway, I'm having a blast working on my project!

Sounds like you've found a good balance between structure and iddy gratification! I hope the rest of the reworking goes smoothly.

What you said about context rings very true to me. Even though I'm writing this to be self-indulgent to a certain extent, if I'm going to post it for others to read, then it needs to have more of the supporting framework I didn't necessarily spell out for myself, and cohere better in timeline and in characterization. That is going to be more work, but hopefully if I make myself be more rigorous, it will make for a better fic in the end!

Medici! What an epic sad fandom. But making sad vids/watching sad vids can really help me process my feels. All of the locations in Medici are just so pretty, too.
