It's my first time joining this bang, too. I was drawn to it as soon as I saw the announcement post, because I have a drawerfic WIP that I've been on the fence about posting, and this seems like a golden opportunity to let it see the light of day.

But I'm finding myself getting more critical about my story in the process of transcribing it into an actual typed draft. For one thing, I have to put the scenes into some kind of concrete order, which I hadn't worked out in detail before. And I'm worrying more about whether the scenes fit with the canon timeline, too. And maybe the fic needs a better ending than the one I have? - If anyone else is starting with a WIP, do you feel like moving into fic challenge mode is changing how you think about it?

Oh gosh, same! I actually scrapped my original iddy idea once I started working on it for this challenge. But on the bright side, I was able to mold it into something much more fitting but still iddy in the ways I wanted it to be! This means a good deal of reworking and figuring out how to recontexualize the scenes I've already written, but it feels much more manageable.

I definitely think there's a shift in how we view a story once we put it on paper. It's all well and good when it's up there in your head, and you have all the context you need to enjoy the idea, but transcribing that in a way that makes sense and sounds good is often paralyzing.

Hopefully being more critical of your story is helpful rather than hindering your progress!

Uhhh so I did my original MCU IIBB fic for Camp Nano and now my first draft is done?? I'm to the point where I've reread it so many times I can't edit it properly, so it's just gonna have to sit until I can actually read the words again.

So... I'm writing a second IIBB! Hannibal TV this time. Way less fluffy than the last one.

This is my first time too, and so far I'm really excited about my idea! Lots of whump and hurt/no comfort, and I've got a bingo card I can pull tropes from if I get really stuck. I'm also outlining an origfic idea that I may use for NaNo if I still really feel it come November, so that's something else to look forward to.

Anyway, I'm having a blast working on my project!

I'm most looking forward to the end, where A busts B out of the prison that was torturing and experimenting on her. A is a superhero and B is the villain, and this is A realizing that she can no longer turn a blind eye to everything that B was undergoing. A turns against the rest of her superhero team to save B. A bridal carrying a drugged up B! Explosions! "You came for me this time." / "I made a promise. I'm sorry it took me so long to keep it."

As for alignment, hmmmm. A would be Chaotic Good, but with Chaotic Neutral leanings. She likes being a hero, but more than just being good, she likes that her lifestyle is exciting and dangerous. She's a hero because she's an adrenaline junkie, and was always willing to snoop around and do things that aren't necessarily sanctioned by the rest of her team in order to pursue her own agendas.

B is straight up Chaotic Neutral--focused entirely on her own goal and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it, laws and mores be damned. She doesn't care about doing the right thing. She has been entirely in survival mode for the last seven or eight years, and becoming a villain was the only option she felt she had available to her.

Well, I have two story ideas, still not sure which one will come to fruition.
Scene I definitely want to write:
A: Still not 100% sure where the path will take them, but they are definitely ending up in this city with mystical cats. Somehow. Even if I have to deviate from canon setup a lot.
Also a scene where they at least scratch the sexual tension itch. Not sure I will be able to transition them to actual established relationship within this bang's time limits but volume 1 of story with some kind of conclusion still counts, right?
B: People react to character's unusual hobby. Character doesn't see it as unusual courtesy of being raised by this crossover parental figure I've provided that is from an alien culture and 100% for said hobby.

Alignment:
A: One starts as Chaotic Good, might end up leaning more towards neutrality in some aspects? But would probably still be "Good" on character sheet by the end. The other starts as...Neutral Evil, I think, moving towards either True or Chaotic Neutral by end. Hopefully. I might end up writing a tragic or bittersweet resolution. For all that I took trouble of distancing them from issues in their original universe. Yes, I fail at idfic.
B: Chaotic Good character from above stays Chaotic Good, hopefully. The parental figure...is complicated. Is aspiring for Good but might be Chaotic Neutral on the balance. Definitely Chaotic.

On Fic #1, I'm looking forward to writing the emotional catharsis at the end -- codependent pair that had a falling out getting back to feeling safe with each other :g:

On Fic #2, I'm mostly just interested in dumping all my emotions and confusion and being lost about my ethnic / cultural identity on my faves. If canon isn't going to give me queer Latine characters with ties to both queerness and being disconnected from cultural heritage, then I'll just have to make canon give me some!

Both protagonists of Fic #1 are chaotic good (or at least, they'd class themselves that way) and the three characters I'm focussing on for Fic #2 are neutral good, chaotic neutral, and true neutral. (I have other thoughts about what classes they'd be and what classes they'd play, but that's another comment.)

Hello! I, too, am new to this bang, but I'm super looking forward to it. I just finished a giant self-indulgent fic last year, so I'm looking forward to kind of doing that again. Now I just have to find time with all the other exchanges I'm doing. I'm planning on writing a really dark Batman fic that I'm not even sure I'll post, because it's maybe too iddy?? But we'll see.

Based off these fics, my id smells like fancy chocolates that someone else is eating and dried blood.
And at this moment, the main character is trying to ask his best friend if he's soulmates with the literal embodiment of evil without sounding either judgey or like he thinks Friend is evil.
