Oh lord.

I came up with a Harry Potter OFC when I was thirteen, and I have lived more than half my life with her bopping around in there; her best friend/love interest came along a couple of years later. They face much angst, much trauma, are the most amazing pair ever, &c. &c. &c.

Most of my original fiction ideas are fairly iddy in and of themselves, so I originally chose one I'd already formulated but hadn't done much with to write for the bang. I wasn't really feeling it, though, and when I was messing around online and ignoring my blank GDocs file I suddenly really wanted to write a Marriage Law Challenge fic for my two OCs. The MLC comes from the main Snape/Hermione site (or Draco/Hermione site?), back in the day - after the war, the Ministry forces couples on opposite sides together to promote peace. With a particular interpretation of the OCs, this could work.

Do it, my id roared. Write this abomination now.

But nobody will want to read about my OCs, I protested. And it's so embarrassing to share these impulses with other people.

FOOL! my id roared even louder. What is idfic but that which embarrasses us to disclose? The fact that you feel trepidation despite desperately wanting to have the emotions that go with the trope confirms that you should indeed be writing this story for such a fest.

So here we are.

JSYK, I am absolutely here for any and all MLC fic, because I have SUCH MEMORIES of rolling around in those stories back in the day. I will be awaiting your story with anticipation!

I saw someone asking for a pairing in a small fandom, a pairing that I could absolutely see in terms of the characters being into each other but also a pairing where all the ways I could think of for it to happen in canon were fairly messed up. After canon, it would likely be different and less messed up. Before canon, it would actually be worse but the canonical main character wouldn't know it.

I actually like writing very messed up relationships, consensual, dubcon, or noncon, so naturally this grabbed me. I also saw some things from canon that the author had set up and then ignored all of the implications of that I wanted to play around with.

I started writing a short fic for a prompt in the slave auction mini-fest, where some people randomly become catboys during puberty and catboys are automatically enslaved. I liked the characters, so I wrote a little more of them. The next part is going to be longer and more plotty, and I really wanted to write it but was intimidated so I signed up to encourage myself to just let loose.

My fic is a side story for a much larger ongoing series of mine. In a recent work in that series, there's a hostage situation at the office of the character this idfic is going to focus on. In the aftermath of that, said character finally stands up to his (abusive and overcontrolling) father, despite his father making it clear that there will be serious ramifications to his actions.

He's a character who canonically has been expected to excel in any and everything his entire life, so my id thought, he has to be near his breaking point by now and could really use to not be in charge for a little while, and what better way to do that than some lovely nonsexual submission?

Then came the challenge of figuring out who could be the dom in this scenario. I knew I didn't want to use an OC, but given the way canon events unfolded, I couldn't imagine a dom/sub dynamic with him as a sub working with pretty much any of the other main characters (and quite a few of the side characters), even ~10 years post-canon when this story is set. Not one to be deterred, my id just kept throwing characters at the situation until it found one that stuck, which is how I've found myself writing platonic kink for an exceedingly rare pair.

Lo these many moons ago, I watched Iron Man: Armored Adventures. For the uninitiated, this is a deeply ridiculous kids' cartoon in which Tony Stark is a teenager who becomes Iron Man and has ridiculous adventures. It's like a laser beam aimed straight at my id. Identity porn! Weird non-canon AUs! Superheroes! Tony having to deal with normal life stuff like homework and stupid crushes while simultaneously fighting evil! Pepper and Rhodey get to be awesome!

But there was one thing I always wished they'd done, which was make it a full high school AU for ALL the Avengers. Most of the MCU Avengers show up, but Tony's the only one who's a teenager; Clint and Natasha are awesome twentysomething spies, Bruce is a contemporary of Tony's dad, and Steve's an iceberg. (Thor doesn't show up.) I've been tossing around ideas for an MCU/Armored Adventures fusion for a few years now, but haven't gotten around to actually writing anything yet, and, well. Why not now? This entire canon is super duper iddy for me, and throwing in EVEN MORE identity porn makes it even moreso. Add too many OT3s to be realistic and Jane and Betty hanging out, and there's my idfic :D

I have too many thoughts about the Star Wars prequels, mostly.

To break it down further, I imprinted HARD on the handmaidens in The Phantom Menace, especially Sabé. She had one job to do, and she did it really well, even with Padmé running around making it harder. And somehow, that made me want to see the five times she failed, Padmé died, and she either had to live with that guilt or take on the role of Amidala as a full time thing. I wrote out the outline of it ages ago, but finally decided to actually sit down and write it for this.

The other, the Padmé/Obi-Wan multiple first times in public was due to me writing Padmé/Obi-Wan porn for an exchange, thinking, man, I wish I could write this with pegging and sex pollen and female anal, but no, wait, my recipient might not like those. I started writing it out anyway to get it out of my head, and this is just the impetus I'm using to make myself finish.
